Poh Ying Loo serves as our Independent Non-Executive Director, bringing over 35 years of extensive experience in various industries including auditing, manufacturing and trading, before joining the retail industry.
Mr. Poh holds a Global MBA in Digital Business from Zigurat Innovation & Technology Business School, Barcelona, Spain, along with the University Extension Diploma in Global MBA in Digital Business from the University of Barcelona. Additionally, he is a Fellow Chartered Management Accountant (FCMA) and Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). Mr. Poh is also a member of the Malaysia Institute of Accountants (MIA) and a Fellow member of the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICDM). His qualifications extend to being a Qualified Risk Director and a member of the Institute of Enterprise Risk Practitioners (IERP). In March 2023, he earned a certification as a Certified Expert in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and Impact Investing from the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management and in January 2024, he received the Sustainability Risk Manager (SRM) professional certification from IERP.
Mr. Poh’s career began as an auditor in Ong Boon Bah & Co in 1986. He then joined Dreamland Holdings Berhad as an Accounts Supervisor/Executive in February 1988, followed by a role as Assistant Accountant at CPC/AJI (M) Sdn Bhd in December 1988, where he served until June 1996 as the Senior Accountant. From July 1996 to June 2020, he was with AEON CO. (M) Bhd (“AEON“), holding various finance and managerial positions including Finance Manager, Financial Controller, General Manager of Finance and Senior General Manager in charge of Corporate Finance and Investor Relations. In May 2011, he was appointed as the Executive Director of AEON and served until June 2020.
Currently, he is an Independent Non-Executive Director on the boards of UEM Sunrise Berhad (since November 2020) and Sports Toto Berhad (formerly known as Berjaya Sports Toto Berhad, since June 2021), both listed on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities. He also served on the board of the Malaysian Investor Relations Association Berhad (MIRA) from October 2021 to February 2023.
He does not have any familial ties with any Director or major shareholder of the Company, nor does he have any conflict of interest or potential conflict of interest, including interest in any competing business with the Company and its subsidiaries.
