On February 24th, a group of nine employees from MST Golf, accompanied by four friends, dedicated their time to participate in a Kechara Soup Kitchen static food distribution event. On a Saturday afternoon, the volunteers gathered at the Kechara food bank located Jalan Imbi to assist in loading over 350 hot meals, bread, biscuits, and mineral water bottles into our vehicles. Thereafter, we departed to the Medan Tuanku Distribution Centre, where hundreds of people eagerly awaited their share of the food provisions.
At the distribution centre, each volunteer was assigned a station for distribution – some were responsible for distributing hot meals, while others gave out bread, drinks, and biscuits. Kechara Soup Kitchen had also set up a medical station, where homeless individuals received consultations from the team of volunteer doctors and nurses. By 7PM, the event marking an empathetic end to the Chinese New Year festivities through acts of compassionate service by the volunteers.
Nicki Chung from Retail Operations shared her reflections, saying, “It was deeply fulfilling to volunteer, reminding me to be grateful for what I have. We all have power to uplift others’ lives in even small ways. Giving back is the right thing to do.”
Najwa Azi from HR expressed gratitude for the experience, stating, “Contributing positively impacted my sense of purpose. Thank you, Sustainability Team, for facilitating this opportunity to serve. I definitely hope to participate again.”
