As we step into the new year, we are excited to share some news about our commitment to environmental sustainability. Since January 1, 2024, MST Golf retail outlets have taken a proactive step towards proper waste management.
Measuring our General Waste:
Taking a step towards transparency and accountability, our outlets have started measuring their daily general waste output. In the past two weeks, we have traced 437.4kg of general waste generated across our 40 outlets. This data provides us with insights into our environmental footprint, allowing us to set targets for waste reduction and improved waste reduction efforts.
Recycling Efforts in Klang Valley Outlets:
Klang Valley outlets have also committed to sending cardboard boxes and soft plastic bags/films, including apparel polybags, back to the warehouse for recycling.
Similarly, our team from The Golf Lab and Tech Shops will segregate unwanted golf clubs and shafts and return them to the warehouse for recycling. This strategic initiative aligns seamlessly with our commitment to better managing golf product life cycles and reducing our waste to landfills.
In-Store Strategies:
To promote more circularity with our customers, our retail team has committed to asking customers if they need a paper bag and offering to recycle certain product packaging for customers, such as shoe boxes. MST Golf Bag4Life reusable bags are also available for purchase, providing customers with more reusable alternatives.
Spotlight on Gurney Paragon Outlet:
A special acknowledgment goes to the Gurney Paragon team, who have already started sorting additional recyclables and sending them to a local Penang recycler. The Gurney Paragon team has also measured their recyclable waste and provided us with their recycling data. We encourage more leadership by example, especially as demonstrated by Team Gurney Paragon. Well done!
Encouraging Staff Involvement:
Looking ahead, we will continue to explore additional avenues to reduce outlet waste. We encourage all staff to embrace sustainable practices, such as bringing MST Golf lunch boxes to reduce food packaging waste. Each small action collectively contributes to a more sustainable culture in the workplace.
