As 2024 comes to a close, MST Golf’s Sustainability Department organised Plogging 3.0, a fun and meaningful way to give back to the environment. On Monday, 23rd December, 21 employees came together for our third plogging session of the year to wrap up the year on a positive note.
Here’s What We Did:
- The event started at 9:15 AM with a quick introduction and safety briefing.
- Everyone split into teams of four to five, with each team taking a stretch of road to clean.
- Geared up with gloves, reusable bags, and water bottles, the teams headed out for plogging
What’s Plogging?
Plogging = Jogging + Picking up Litter! This activity started in Sweden and has become a fun way to stay fit while cleaning up.
The event was not only a chance to clean up the area but also an opportunity for employees to connect and contribute to a common cause, strengthening the sense of community within MST Golf.
The Results: Waste Collected
Among the collected items, 0.75 kg of plastic bottles and 0.4 kg of glass were separated as recyclables, bringing the total recyclable waste to 1.5 kg. In totality, we collected a total of 35.6kg of general waste (that’s like carrying a small fridge!)
Total Waste Collected for the Year 2024
A massive 149.4 kg of waste. That’s heavier than a fully stocked golf cart!
MST Golf’s Plogging Journey This Year
Throughout this year, some of the most common culprits found during our plogging efforts included plastic drinks, straws, cigarette butts, and candy wrappers. These small items often break down into harmful microplastics, which highlights the importance of focusing on such waste.
As we continue our journey towards a cleaner environment, refusing single-use items and reusing materials whenever possible remain essential solutions to reduce waste. By making these small changes in our daily habits, we can significantly lessen our environmental impact and contribute to a more sustainable future.
Want to reduce waste in your daily life? It’s easier than you think!
- Say no to single-use plastics like straws and bags.
- Reuse items like bottles and containers.
- Recycle properly to give materials a second life.
Small Matters, Big Impact
Did you know? One reusable bag can replace 700 plastic bags over its lifetime!Plogging 3.0 wasn’t just about picking up litter. It was about coming together as a team and doing something good for the environment. It showed how small actions can lead to big changes when we all pitch in.A big thank you to everyone who joined in our Plogging activities this year in 2024! You didn’t just clean the streets, but made a real difference. Let’s keep the momentum going and aim even higher in 2025!
